HI, I'M GUS!

Hi, I’m Gus! A 1991-born, qualified lawyer and travel addict originally from Malaysian Borneo city of Kuching. I speak 5 languages - English, Malay, Mandarin, Iban and basic Thai. I'm targeting to learn both Filipino and German, at least conversational!

Having practised law for 3 years in Kuala Lumpur, I quit my job as a practising lawyer and moved to the Philippines' capital of Manila with my partner since January 2020. Currently, I am a member of an in-house legal team in one of the MNCs in Manila.

Together with my partner, I have been travelling extensively from within Southeast Asia, East Asia all the way to South Asia. I believe Asia is the most diverse and interesting part of the world that is waiting for us to explore and discover. 2020 has brought my bucket list destinations to a near-standstill and we have been cooped-up in Manila during our first year of living in the Philippines. But, 2021 gives one a sense of hope! We are aiming to explore as many islands as we can while living in the Philippines.

I believe in slower-paced yet more in-depth explorations. For me, when your goal is to visit every country in the world, you are not really travelling as your perspectives are confined within the surface of the destinations. Hence, I travel one place at a time.
